How to choose a retreat planner

  • Full service or venue only. If nobody on your team has time to run logistics, pick a full-service planner. If you have an ops person, a venue marketplace is cheaper.
  • Destination. Check that the planner actually works where you want to go, with local suppliers, not just a destination page.
  • Team size. Some planners start at 15 or 20 people; others cap venues at a few dozen.
  • Pricing model. Per person, flat fee or quote. Ask what the fee covers and what the trip itself will cost per person.
  • Lead time. Large teams should start 6-12 months ahead; small teams can plan in 2-3 months.
