LATAM vs US salaries, by role

What 51 roles cost per month in Latin America compared with the United States, from junior through senior. Every figure is the full-time monthly cost of the person, not an agency fee.

How much cheaper is hiring in Latin America?

Across 51 roles, hiring in Latin America costs 50-70% less per month than hiring the same role in the United States. The range runs from $1,200/mo for a junior bookkeeper to $7,500/mo for a senior devops engineer.

The gap is driven by local cost of living, not by seniority or output — the roles below are like-for-like comparisons at the same experience level. Savings are widest at junior and mid level and narrow at senior, where LATAM compensation competes more directly with US rates.

US figures are benchmarked against public compensation sources including Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, Indeed, BuiltIn, Payscale, Robert Half and SHRM, depending on the role; the source used for each one is listed on that role's own page. LATAM figures are full-time monthly contractor compensation. Both exclude employer taxes, benefits and any agency fee. Last reviewed March 2026.

What the numbers do and do not include

Every figure is the monthly cost of the person. In the US column that is base salary expressed monthly — it excludes payroll taxes, health insurance, equity and the overhead that typically adds 20-30% on top. In the LATAM column it is what the contractor is paid, and it excludes any placement or staffing fee.

That means the real US-versus-LATAM gap for a fully loaded hire is usually wider than the percentages above, not narrower — but how much wider depends on your benefits load, so we have left it out rather than estimate it for you.
